What better day than Halloween to sell treats and sweets for a good cause? For many office workers in the Guaranty Building, a special bake sale organized by Mountain, Dearborn & Whiting LLP staff to raise funds for breast cancer research was a welcome midday surprise on October 31.
Our own Barbara Burtt, administrative legal assistant, coordinated a team of MDW bakers, arranged for a table in the Guaranty Building lobby, and enlisted volunteers to staff the table, all “to make a difference in a simple yet important way.” Office staff from Guaranty Management contributed baked goods, as well.
Barbara was inspired by a news story on WCVB-TV about office bake sales during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Her delicious venison meat pies and Halloween cupcakes were among the baked goods that flew off the table, raising $1,000 in three hours. All proceeds will go toward research grants to find a cure for breast cancer.
